About the role
The Patient Access Manager oversees the daily operations of assigned departments, ensuring timely and efficient patient throughput while providing excellent customer service. The Manager provides leadership and oversight to ensure policies and procedures are followed, work is accurate, and regulatory standards are met. This role supports the department supervisor, team leads, and staff to maintain exemplary patient throughput and customer service.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the accuracy of registrations, correct and track registration errors via daily reports, and inform staff of system updates.
- Review daily alerts, address system errors, and request system rules to improve registration accuracy.
- Operate with a high degree of autonomy while adhering to RWJBH philosophy and policies.
- Maintain professional affiliations and stay updated on the latest trends in hospital and department administration services.
- Work with the Patient Access Supervisor to ensure the accuracy and integrity of all registrations and processes.
- Conduct regular assessments of the department to identify issues and develop improvement processes.
- Monitor key performance indicators and create action plans when goals are not met.
- Assess, analyze, and act on all aspects of the Patient Access Department registration functions.
- Create, implement, and monitor action/work plans designed to improve metrics.
- Supervise staff to ensure timely and appropriate patient registrations without delay.
- Coordinate staffing allocations for timely registrations.
- Provide oversight to ensure department functions are completed accurately and positively.
- Communicate issues and policies to staff as they relate to the department and ancillary areas.
- Achieve expected results and outcomes without compromising RWJBH core values, processes, or procedures.
- Review all patient complaints reported by the team or via the Verge System.
- Demonstrate good interpersonal skills and a positive demeanor when working with patients, employees, and other organizational staff.
Requirements
- High School Diploma (required); College Degree (preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of Patient Access leadership experience.
- Minimum of 7 years of Patient Access experience.
- Knowledge of registration, insurance verification, authorization requirements, non-Federal and Federal billing regulations, and state programs such as Charity Care.
- Proficiency in medical terminology and computer skills.
Pay
$77,000 - $100,000 per year. The compensation offered will depend on the candidate's educational background, skills, and professional experience.
