About the Opportunity: The Patient Access Liaison II serves as a primary point of contact for patients and medical personnel accessing the organization’s academic medical centers and health sciences campus. This role manages patient communications, appointment scheduling, registration, insurance verification, and data maintenance to ensure efficient access to care. The position contributes to coordinated patient service, accurate information management, and a high-quality healthcare experience. Responsibilities: • Answer, screen, and direct incoming and outgoing calls, electronic messages, and web-based communications using a call management system.• Respond to basic inquiries and direct more complex questions to appropriate medical personnel.• Contact and distribute messages to medical personnel through text, voice, and email.• Schedule, reschedule, cancel, and confirm patient appointments using organizational scheduling systems.• Register patients and verify insurance coverage while communicating estimated financial responsibilities.• Perform data entry and maintain accurate patient, medical, and appointment records.• Coordinate with patient coordinators, nurses, and physicians to secure appropriate appointments.• Follow established procedures for paging physicians and managing open pages.• Ensure communication and scheduling systems contain accurate, current, and accessible information.• Maintain compliance with HIPAA requirements when processing patient messages and communications.• Perform service recovery activities or escalate concerns in accordance with established guidelines.• Accept assignments in other areas of the organization as needed.• Work remotely when deployed in accordance with departmental guidelines. Requirements: • High school diploma or equivalent.• Minimum 2 years of experience in a call center, customer service, healthcare, or related environment.• Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills.• Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.• Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) required within 30 days of hire, if applicable. Preferred Qualifications: • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, business, operations, or a related field.• Vocational certification in appointment scheduling, patient registration, insurance verification, medical assisting, or a related healthcare discipline.• Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and various health insurance types.• Familiarity with medical terminology.• Experience with practice management or healthcare scheduling systems.• Bilingual communication skills in Spanish, Chinese, or other languages. Pay Range and Compensation Package: • The pay range and compensation package for this role will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, skills, qualifications, location, and other relevant factors.
