Patient Access Coordinator I
About the role
The role of the Patient Access Coordinator is an essential part of the patient's pre-visit experience. The primary function of this role is to collect accurate patient information, coordinate patient encounters and provide patient support services to ensure that each patient and family encounter is positive, professional, and efficient.
Responsibilities
- Registering patients and scheduling appointments in Cadence and/or OpTime
- Cooking care with other services and minimizing access delays
- Processing incoming referrals
- Triage patient telephone calls to appropriate resources
- Sending MyChart invitations
- Collecting and/or updating demographic and financial information for optimal reimbursement
- Checking in patients, collecting copays and outstanding balances
- Informing of and collecting signed consent for care
- Maintaining standards for infection prevention
- Participating in strategic initiatives and hospital goal work
- Effectively communicating with patients/families
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of two (2) years customer service and/or administrative support experience, and/or healthcare experience with/without scheduling and registration experience
Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree or at least two (2) years of college coursework in health care or related field
- Minimum of three (3) years experience working in a health care setting or related field
- Significant experience working with the general public in a health care/customer service environment
- Familiarity with other cultures/bilingual skills
