Patient Access Coordinator
About the role
The Patient Access Coordinator (PAC) position at PCHS is designed to enhance patient access to healthcare services. This role involves providing a personalized telephone contact, confirming appointments, and assisting with clerical tasks. Additionally, the PAC helps facilitate access to care, educates patients on policies and programs, and ensures the smooth and timely completion of paperwork.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate a strong work ethic.
- Utilize professional telephone techniques and be proficient with telephone equipment.
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Make and confirm appointments.
- Communicate patient needs to clinical assistants (medical or dental) and/or providers.
- Discuss treatment plans and future appointments with patients.
- Be proficient in computerized data entry and all electronic health records.
- Absorb and relay office policies, procedures, and programs to patients.
- Assist patients in gathering their data and assure the completeness of clinic forms.
- Issue necessary correspondence related to treatment and office policy.
- Recognize and respond to emergencies.
- Facilitate patient referrals and verify coverage with the patients’ payer source.
Requirements
- High School Diploma.
- No required license.
- One year experience as a front desk administrative assistant preferred.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates should possess strong communication skills, proficiency in computerized data entry, and familiarity with electronic health records. They must also be able to recognize and respond to emergencies and facilitate patient referrals.
