Responsibilities

  • Assign accurate MRNs and complete medical necessity/compliance checks.
  • Provide proper patient instructions, collect insurance information, and receive/process physician orders.
  • Utilize an overlay tool while delivering excellent customer service as measured by Press Ganey.
  • Operate the telephone switchboard to relay incoming, outgoing, and inter-office calls with compassion.
  • Adhere to policies and meet point-of-service goals as assigned.
  • Utilize quality auditing and reporting systems to correct accounts, including audits for other employees, departments, and facilities.
  • Conduct audits to ensure forms are completed accurately and timely, and provide statistical data to leadership.
  • Pre-register patient accounts prior to visits, including inbound/outbound calls to obtain demographic, insurance, and financial liability information, and collect point-of-service and past-due balances (including payment plans).
  • Explain general consent for treatment forms to patients/guarantors/legal guardians, obtain signatures, and witness names; distribute patient education documents such as Important Message from Medicare, Important Message from Tricare, Observation Forms, MOON form, Consent forms, and future service forms.
  • Review eligibility responses in the insurance verification system, select applicable insurance plan codes, and enter benefit data to support POS collections and billing processes for clean claim rates.
  • Accurately screen medical necessity using ABN software for Medicare patients, distribute ABNs as appropriate, and document distribution of designated forms and pamphlets.

Experience We Love

Minimum Education

  • High School Diploma/GED required.

Certifications

  • CRCR certification required within 9 months of hire (company paid).

Pay

This position pays between $17.00 – $18.15/hr based on experience.

Schedule

Full-time, Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM. Onsite role at Mercy – Clermont Hospital in Batavia, OH.
