Expected pay: $18.80 - $22.12/hour, based on experience, skills, and internal equity.

- Days: Monday – Thursday
- Hours: 2:00 PM – 7:00 PM (2nd shift)
- Weekly hours: 20
About the Role
The Patient Access Associate ensures each registered patient has a complete and accurate OSF medical record, including demographics, insurance coverage, responsible guarantor, and precise registration. The role involves clearly communicating services, financial responsibilities, and expectations to patients, families, and external parties—both in person and over the phone—to create an exceptional first impression of OSF’s services. Strong deductive reasoning and logic skills are required to resolve complex, multi-payer situations.
Responsibilities
- Register patients with accurate demographic and insurance information.
- Explain services, financial responsibilities, and facility expectations to patients and families.
- Provide excellent customer service to create a positive first impression of OSF.
- Resolve issues in complex, multi-payer scenarios using deductive reasoning and logic.
- Complete all role-specific revenue cycle training and certification within 12 months.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- One year of experience in an office clerical setting or customer service environment.
- Working knowledge of standard Microsoft Office applications and website navigation.
- Strong problem-solving, conflict management, time management, and oral/written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three years of experience in an office clerical setting or customer service environment.
- Direct experience in a revenue cycle or medical setting.
- Advanced knowledge of CPT4, ICD9/10, HCPCS, and modifiers.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
