About the Role
The incumbent will coordinate patient flow, ensure timely processing, and maintain knowledge of practices used within the department, physician practice, or hospital to address patient questions or concerns. This role involves understanding insurance requirements, Baptist Health South Florida (BHSF) pricing, financial assistance options, and overall BHSF Revenue Cycle operations. The position practices the BHSF philosophy of service excellence by providing professional, compassionate, and friendly service to patients of all ages, families, employees, physicians, and community members.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate patient flow and ensure timely processing of patient-related tasks.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of departmental, physician practice, or hospital practices to address patient questions or concerns.
- Understand and apply knowledge of insurance requirements, BHSF pricing, financial assistance options, and BHSF Revenue Cycle operations.
- Provide professional, compassionate, and friendly service to patients, families, employees, physicians, and community members.
- Adhere to regulatory guidelines, including HIPAA, AHCA, EMTALA, and Medicare coverage structure, including medical necessity compliance guidelines.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma, Certificate, GED, Training, or equivalent experience.
Additional Qualifications:
- Complete and pass the Patient Access training course.
- Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment and perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Detail-oriented, organized, team player with excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Compassionate and professional demeanor.
- Desired: Basic knowledge of medical and insurance terminology.
- Experience with computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, knowledge of EMR applications) and accurate typing skills.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Creole) preferred.
Experience: Less than 1 year of relevant experience required.
