About the role
17-week contract position for a Pathology Technician responsible for high-complexity laboratory testing of human tissue specimens, including gross description, dissection, preparation, and meticulous record-keeping while adhering to strict laboratory and quality control protocols.
Responsibilities
- Performs gross description and dissection of human tissue surgical specimens for examination, holding, and transport/shipment.
- Assists with the preparation of freshly removed surgical specimens for cytologic studies.
- Assumes responsibility for good documentation practices and maintains clear and legible records.
- Performs laboratory high-complexity testing (e.g., specimen grossing) as delegated by the Technical Supervisor in a compliant manner.
- Follows the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results.
- Adheres to the laboratory's quality control policies, documents all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenance performed.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of surgical pathology experience.
- Certified by an accredited Pathologists’ Assistant (PA) school.
- Certified Pathologists’ Assistant from a NAACLS-accredited PA training program.
- PA (ASCP) certification required.
