About the Role
A Cytology Technician prepares and screens ThinPrep cytology slides for microscopic analysis, ensuring accuracy and adherence to protocols.
Responsibilities
- Identify specimens and create sample worksheets
- Label slides and prepare them using the ThinPrep 2000 system
- Operate Veristain, Tissue-Tek Film cover slipper, and ThinPrep Imaging System
- Manually prepare slides according to established protocols
- Coordinate waste disposal and maintain safety compliance
- Maintain accurate records and ensure patient privacy
- Collaborate with team members and engage in proactive problem-solving
- Adhere to quality and accuracy standards in all tasks
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Preferred: medical experience and 3 months of clinical laboratory accessioner training
Skills and Abilities
- Proficient visual and auditory skills
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and perform repetitive motions
- Safe handling of chemicals and body fluids using appropriate PPE
Work Environment
May involve exposure to chemicals and biological materials; strict adherence to safety protocols is required.
