Responsibilities
- Assess specimen quality and make necessary corrections.
- Prepare specimens for processing or grossing.
- Accession specimens into the LIS system, ensuring accurate data entry.
- Demonstrate accuracy in identifying and accessing numbers and names.
- Perform quality control on requisitions.
- Assist with needle procedures, slide preparation, and staining.
- Handle inventory, upkeep, and organization of offsite gross rooms.
- Routinely interact with hospital staff and answer phone calls.
- Communicate effectively with team members to complete lab responsibilities.
- Participate in department activities to improve patient care and lab systems.
- Follow safety standards and report/remove unsafe equipment.
Qualifications
- Earned associate degree (or higher) in a laboratory science from an accredited institution.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Ability to work independently and solve problems.
- Organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Confidentiality and customer service skills.
- Competency and accuracy using multiple computer systems.
- Knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Previous data entry or laboratory/healthcare experience preferred.
Pay
Starting pay range for this position is $20.00-$22.00/hour.
