Pathology Department Support Assistant

About the Role

As a Pathology Department Support Assistant, you will perform complex customer service and clerical duties with little to no supervision. You will handle clerical processing and completion of all pathology reports, assist with correspondence for Pathologists, and serve as a resource for the pathology department.

Responsibilities

• Answer telephones promptly and route customer calls appropriately.
• Ensure faxed results are complete; make necessary calls according to policy and document communications per department procedures.
• Prepare specimens and slides for distribution to reference laboratories.
• Receive reference lab reports and file them as defined in department procedures for send-outs.
• Assist with timely billing of referral testing to patient records.
• Maintain records, including pulling, filing, and reconciling issues.
• Perform daily follow-up on unverified and/or pending test orders or account information.
• Ensure customer satisfaction by processing orders and coordinating customer service needs professionally.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED (required).
• 3 years of related experience (required).
• Additional college-level business classes (preferred).
• Working knowledge of coding, billing, and accounting as it relates to the position (preferred).

Pay

$18.96 - $26.78 per hour.
