About the role

The Pathology Compliance Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance within the pathology department at Hackensack Meridian Health. This position involves developing and implementing training programs, conducting investigations, and providing guidance on various compliance issues.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements employee and client office training and education programs.
  • Conducts and follows up investigations and facilitates corrective action for laboratory compliance issues.
  • Provides advice and support to laboratory management and staff on improving compliance systems.
  • Coordinates evaluations of the laboratory compliance program and modifies the compliance plan as needed.
  • Investigates and resolves discrepancies in the Cerner Millennium system and relevant laboratory information systems.
  • Monitors and resolves insurance denials and acts as a liaison between the lab and Patient Accounts.
  • Attends compliance coordinating team meetings and collaborates with team members to develop and implement compliance measurement systems.
  • Ensures compliance with policies and regulatory requirements, and conducts ongoing audits and investigations.
  • Leads and conducts meetings to review audit reports and develop corrective action plans.
  • Administers and reviews laboratory research activities to meet organizational objectives and goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare related science.
  • Minimum 5 years healthcare (hospital) experience.
  • Experience with clinical laboratory compliance guidelines for all regulatory agencies.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in healthcare related science (preferred).
  • Thorough working knowledge of laboratory and hospital computer systems.
  • Proficiency in relevant skills and competencies.

Benefits

HMH offers a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and retirement benefits. The starting rate of pay is $97,011.20 annually, but the actual compensation may vary based on market data, experience, and other factors.
