Pathologist Assistant | Surgical Pathology | Days | Full-Time

Responsibilities

• Grossing of specimens, gross photography, accessioning of surgical specimens
• Instruction of residents and medical students in handling gross surgical specimens
• Performance of frozen sections and all other related duties
• Work in a CLIA certified surgical grossing laboratory and direct and assist in the daily workflow of the staff and house staff of the laboratory
• Proper grossing at UF Health, as a tertiary care center, requires proper specimen selection for the various tests being requested and for accurate diagnosis and frozen section performance
• Perform tests such as flow cytometry, microbiology, molecular diagnostics, cytogenetics, and frozen sections
• Select samples properly to ensure adequate amounts, types, and locations for testing

Qualifications

• Must meet qualifications for CLIA high complexity testing personnel
• Option 1: Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited American Association of Pathologists' Assistant program
• Option 2: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university and completion of NAACLS accredited Pathologists' Assistant program within the last 5 years
• Option 3: Medical degree (including foreign Master's level) or higher may substitute for Bachelor's degree with five years of clinical experience in Anatomic Pathology and clinical experience within the past 24 months
