Pathologist Assistant

Responsibilities

• Accurately processes surgical pathology specimens including properly fixing, cutting, photographing, and sectioning of surgical specimens
• Writes and maintains procedures of section in compliance with CAP guidelines
• Investigates and documents problems with unacceptable specimens
• Follows established guidelines for troubleshooting instrument, reagent or specimen problems
• Complies with established laboratory and hospital policies for universal precautions and safety
• Participates in staff meetings, helps promote effective working relationships
• Uses Patient/Family centered values/Conducts all work activities with respect of the rights and wishes of patients, visitors and patients families
• Maintains monitor Copath interfaces for proper performance

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in biology and successful completion of an accredited Pathologist's Assistant program
• Three to six months job related experience to become familiar with a variety of procedures, techniques and equipment used in performing activities
