Responsibilities
- Accurately processes surgical pathology specimens including properly fixing, cutting, photographing, and sectioning of surgical specimens
- Writes and maintains procedures of section in compliance with CAP guidelines
- Investigates and documents problems with unacceptable specimens
- Follows established guidelines for troubleshooting instrument, reagent or specimen problems
- Complies with established laboratory and hospital policies for universal precautions and safety
- Participates in staff meetings, helps promote effective working relationships
- Uses Patient/Family centered values/Conducts all work activities with respect of the rights and wishes of patients, visitors and patients families
- Maintains monitor Copath interfaces for proper performance
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in biology and successful completion of an accredited Pathologist's Assistant program
- Three to six months job related experience to become familiar with a variety of procedures, techniques and equipment used in performing activities
