PATH 3.0 – Screening Field Interviewer
About the role
The Population Assessment of Tobacco and Health (PATH) study seeks motivated and detail-oriented individuals to serve as screening field interviewers. The PATH study collects information on tobacco and nicotine use and examines its health effects. Interviews are conducted via web and in-person methods.
Responsibilities
- Locate sampled addresses and screen household members for a longitudinal study.
- Receive and transmit data via the internet.
- Report progress and costs to supervisor multiple times per week.
- Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Travel to complete project work as needed.
Requirements
- Must be 18 or older with the ability to sign confidentiality agreements.
- Available to complete 20-25 hours of web-based training between August 3, 2026 and August 16, 2026.
- Live in or near the geographic work area defined by the project sample.
- Available to work August 17 through December 31, 2026.
- Available to work 20-25 hours per week, mostly evenings and weekends.
- Meet physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Have regular and reliable access to telephone service and high-speed internet.
- Have consistent access to a fully insured, reliable vehicle.
- Have a current and valid driver’s license.
Qualifications
- Minimum requirements include local travel and availability to work specified days/times.
- Preferred criteria include in-person interviewing and/or cold calling experience, public-facing experience, and comfort with laptops and door-to-door work.
Skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
- Comfortable using a laptop and establishing rapport with study respondents.
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented.
- Independent work ability and team collaboration skills.
Benefits
This is a part-time, variable-hour, non-exempt position. Overtime pay is eligible. Production bonuses may be offered at the discretion of the client. There is no initial health insurance or HSA eligibility. Coverage begins January 1 of the year after eligibility is satisfied. The position is subject to the Service Contract Act (SCA).
Pay
The hourly pay rate ranges from $17.75 to $19.04. A health and welfare payment of $5.09 is provided weekly for up to 40 work hours per week. This position is eligible for paid vacation and holiday leave, sick leave, and participation in the 401(k) program.
Schedule
The schedule is flexible, with work typically occurring evenings and weekends. Specific work days/times are determined by the project.
