PATH 3.0 – Screening Field Interviewer
About the role
The Population Assessment of Tobacco and Health (PATH) study seeks motivated and detail-oriented individuals to serve as screening field interviewers. The PATH study focuses on collecting information on tobacco and nicotine use and examining its health effects. Interviews are conducted via web and in-person methods.
Responsibilities
- Locate sampled addresses and screen household members for a longitudinal study.
- Receive and transmit data via the internet.
- Report progress and costs to your supervisor multiple times per week.
- Work flexible hours, typically evenings and weekends, from August 17 through December 31, 2026.
- Travel to complete project work as needed.
Requirements
- Be 18 or older (or an emancipated minor).
- Have the ability to enter confidentiality agreements.
- Complete 20-25 hours of web-based training per week between August 3, 2026 and August 16, 2026.
- Live in or around the geographic work area defined by the project sample.
- Be available to work during the data collection period from August 17 through December 31, 2026.
- Meet the physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Have regular and reliable access to telephone service and a secure high-speed internet home connection.
- Have consistent access to a fully insured, reliable vehicle.
- Have a current and valid driver’s license that is not under suspension.
Qualifications
- Experience in in-person interviewing and/or cold calling is preferred.
- Experience working with the public and communicating effectively with diverse populations.
- Comfortable using a laptop computer and establishing rapport with study respondents.
- Able to work independently and in a team environment.
Skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Self-motivated and organized with attention to detail.
- Comfortable working in unfamiliar locations and knocking on doors.
Benefits
This is a part-time, variable-hour, non-exempt position. Overtime pay is eligible. There is potential for a production bonus at the discretion of the client. The position is not initially eligible for health insurance or a health savings account (HSA), but eligibility for these benefits is contingent on meeting certain work hours criteria.
Pay
The hourly pay rate ranges from $17.75 to $20.15. A health and welfare payment of $5.09 is also provided weekly for up to 40 work hours per week. This position is eligible for paid vacation and holiday leave based on hours worked. Additionally, field positions accrue sick leave and are eligible to participate in the 401(k) program (employer matching is dependent on hours worked and disbursement is subject to program rules).
Schedule
Interviewers are required to work flexible hours, typically evenings and weekends, from August 17 through December 31, 2026. Local travel to complete project work will be required.
