About the role

Reporting to the Chief Intellectual Property Officer, provides support to the Office of Technology Transfer in management of its intellectual property portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing and prosecuting patent filings
  • Developing and implementing offensive and defensive IP strategies
  • Conducting various patent searches
  • Conducting limited freedom-to-practice evaluations
  • Preparing or obtaining appropriate opinions and providing timely counsel on intellectual property issues
  • Performs related responsibilities as required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
  • Advanced degree in discipline related to specialty area
  • Two years of experience in patent prosecution, a law firm or corporation

Work schedule & location

  • This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs
  • Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department
  • This role requires residency in the state of GA
  • Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee
