Patent Agent & Trade Secret Leader

About the role

The Patent Agent & Trade Secret Leader position is a hybrid role reporting to the Chief IP Counsel based in Wilmington, DE, with occasional travel to Newark, Delaware. This role involves developing and implementing patent strategies, managing a global patent portfolio, conducting periodic patent portfolio reviews, and overseeing Chemours' trade secret program.

Responsibilities

• Developing and managing a global patent portfolio, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications globally.
• Conducting periodic patent portfolio reviews to support alignment with business and technical strategy.
• Global management of Chemours' trade secret program, including conducting periodic trade secret reviews and audits, identification and documentation of new trade secrets, coordination of company-wide trade secret training, and working closely with cross-functional leadership to advance trade secret programs.
• Managing legal costs and resources.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Admitted to practice and in good standing with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
• 5+ years of experience at a large law firm and/or in-house law department.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational ability, including managing priorities and meeting deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely and build relationships with domestic and international business and technical colleagues.

Preferred

• Background or experience in fluorochemistry or polymer chemistry.
