Patent Agent/Advisor (Software/AI)

About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual with substantive industry experience and degree in software, computer science, or a related field to join our busy patent counseling, prosecution, and litigation practice.

Responsibilities

• Conduct prior art database searches for patentability and freedom to operate analyses
• Analyze patent and scientific papers and documents to assist patent attorneys on patent prosecution, counseling, and litigation
• Draft patent applications and responses to office actions
• Advis[e] lawyers on technology issues in preparation for depositions

Requirements

• Superb technical, written, and verbal communication skills in English
• Broad scientific knowledge in computer science or electrical engineering
• Expertise in artificial intelligence and machine learning (strongly preferred)
• Initiative, fast learner, and ability to work well with others
• Eligible to sit for the USPTO registration exam and meet the requirements for registration as a patent agent

Qualifications

Law school tuition assistance available to patent agent candidates.

Skills

Superb technical, written, and verbal communication skills in English

Broad scientific knowledge in computer science or electrical engineering

Expertise in artificial intelligence and machine learning (strongly preferred)

Pay

The expected annual pay range for this position is $125,000 - $228,000. Please note that final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience and skillset of the candidate.
