Pastry Cook Full Time

As a Pastry Cook at Bern's Steak House, you are responsible for operating the pastry section of the kitchen while working closely with the Pastry Management Team to create high-quality pastry dishes using standard recipes and presentations. You will assist in production and maintenance of par stocks, ensure proper rotation of products, and maintain the highest cleanliness and hygiene standards in the pastry and bakery section.

Responsibilities

• Work day-to-day operations of the pastry and bakery section of the kitchen
• Prepare a wide variety of goods such as cakes, cookies, pies, bread, etc., following Pastry Department recipes
• Ensure excellent quality throughout the dessert offerings
• Follow proper handling and maintain the right temperature of all food products throughout the entire shift
• Decorate pastries and desserts using different types of icings, toppings, etc., ensuring beautiful and exciting food presentation
• Check the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure standards are met
• Report all equipment problems, maintenance issues, safety hazards, or unsafe practices to supervisor immediately
• Attend all scheduled employee meetings
• Operate and maintain all department equipment and report malfunctions
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in all work areas
• Must be able to work a variety of shifts including weekends, days, nights, and holidays

Requirements

• High school diploma and 1 year of experience in pastry, food and beverage, or a related professional area
• Positive attitude and ability to work with a variety of people and cooperate with co-workers efficiently and effectively
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work well with others and be a team player
• Ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
• Ability to multitask in a high-volume restaurant setting
• Consideration and respect for guests and co-workers
• Compliance with food hygiene and Health and Safety standards
• Professional disposition with good communication and interpersonal skills
