Pastry Cook

About the role

As the Pastry Cook, you will work alongside the Pastry Chef to handle all aspects of dessert production and presentation in support of restaurant operations at our Cashiers, NC location.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bakeshop
• Communicate pastry-specific supply and equipment needs
• Ensure proper rotation and monitoring of raw and finished products
• Follow dessert production rotation procedures
• Complete weekly ice cream inventory
• Set up the pastry line for nightly dessert plating
• Bake fresh bread throughout nightly service
• Produce all minor dessert components
• Perform deep cleaning of station following service
• Properly wrap and store all pastry products
• Maintain awareness of upcoming events
• Assist with in-room dining and Dogwood dessert production
• Meet individual, bi-annual goals
• Comply with all company policies and procedures
• Attend work regularly and consistently to perform essential functions
• Collaborate effectively with team members, managers, and interact with guests

Requirements

• Culinary education preferred
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in restaurant and pastry
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to compose effective recipes
• Strong communication skills with guests, managers, and team members
• Proficiency in converting recipes into larger and smaller batches
• Thorough understanding of weights, measures, and conversions
• Ability to exercise judgment and make decisions based on job knowledge and company goals

Physical demands

• Requires heavy lifting of up to 50 lbs
• Must be able to stand for the duration of the shift
• Requires constant bending, stooping, and reaching
• Must be able to operate a company vehicle or golf cart safely

Work environment

• Fully equipped bakeshop staffed by up to six people at one time
• Requires working as part of the overall kitchen team, sharing equipment, supplies, and product
• May occasionally work outside in all weather conditions

Pay

Pay range: $20.00–$30.00 per hour. Starting compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and other job-related factors.
