Pastry Chef
About the role
We’re seeking a Pastry Chef to design and lead a one-of-a-kind pastry program at Preserve Life. This role blends traditional pastry excellence with innovative, wellness-focused recipes to create memorable finales for our experiential dining journey.
Responsibilities
- Wellness Bakery & Dessert Creation (35%): Lead daily bakery production for breads, buns, and dessert bases; develop functional desserts using superfoods, alternative sweeteners, and nutrient-dense ingredients; produce signature dessert bases; develop and prepare pathway-aligned sweet condiments for Dessert Condiment Bar.
- Interactive Guest Experience (30%): Personally guide guests through interactive dessert station experiences; educate guests on health benefits and flavor profiles of dessert choices; visit tables post-service for follow-up conversations, coffee, or tea offerings; create memorable educational touchpoints as the sweet finale to dining.
- Operations & Culinary Standards (20%): Maintain pastry station cleanliness, organization, and stock levels; execute desserts with precision, artistry, and impeccable presentation; manage pastry inventory and minimize waste; use KDS and POS systems to ensure accurate service flow and billing.
- Other Contributions (15%): Innovate and test new recipes with wellness focus; document and standardize recipes for consistency; contribute to seasonal menu development and special events; participate in team training and wellness education programs.
Requirements
- Required Qualifications: Proven experience as a Pastry Chef, Baker, or similar role; expertise in pastry techniques, cake decoration, and dessert innovation; background in high-quality restaurant or bakery environment; strong interest in wellness, nutrition, and functional ingredients; knowledge of dietary restrictions, substitutions, and alternative sweeteners.
- Preferred Qualifications: Culinary Arts degree (Pastry/Baking specialization); experience in wellness-focused restaurants or functional food concepts; knowledge of gluten-free baking, superfood integration, and alternative flours; nutrition education or wellness certifications; experience in guest-facing or educational culinary roles.
