About the Role

The Pastor of Students and Families shall be called of God and by the church for ministry to children, birth through high school, and their families. The Pastor must have a heart and vision to convert unbelieving students from within and outside of the church body and demonstrate a passion for equipping and developing believers into healthy and effective disciples. This role involves creating and developing student and family ministries in coordination with the Senior Pastor and any committees or councils the church calls to assist in ministry.

Qualifications

The Pastor of Students and Families has obtained an undergraduate degree in a field of study that can be applied to student ministry and/or has a minimum of 4-5 years of experience in student ministry. The Pastor is encouraged to attend conferences and classes relevant to student ministry and personal and professional spiritual growth.

  • Has a testimony of one who has been redeemed by the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Has been baptized as a public testimony of the Lordship of Jesus in his life.
  • Walks daily with the Lord in personal devotions and private prayer.
  • Regularly engages unbelievers with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
  • Holds to the divine inspiration and inerrancy of the Bible.
  • Demonstrates a loving and Christlike attitude to those within the faith as well as to unbelievers.
  • Attends all regularly scheduled worship services.
  • Commits to the doctrines of the church as described in the church covenant.

Responsibilities

  • Works under the direction and guidance of the Senior Pastor.
  • Works with other church staff to ensure unity among all ministries.
  • Develops a unified student ministry aligned with the church’s vision of reaching unbelievers and making disciples of Christ.
  • Organizes and trains teachers and leaders who have demonstrated a passion for and a call to student ministry.
  • Establishes annual goals for student ministry enrichment.
  • Coordinates with leadership to ensure literature and materials align with the church’s doctrines and vision.
  • Maintains current records of all students involved in the student ministry.
  • Schedules and coordinates special Sundays celebrating aspects of the student ministry (e.g., baby dedication, graduation).
  • Organizes summer ministry opportunities for children and youth, including camps and service projects.
  • Maintains an online calendar for in-office availability to facilitate meetings and counseling.

Conduct Guidelines

  • Must use only approved church communication tools.
  • Shall not conduct counseling or any other ministry to a student individually without the presence of a spouse or another adult.
  • Shall not transport youth in a personal or church vehicle without a spouse or another adult present.
  • Must not consume or use alcohol or any illegal drugs.
  • Conduct must be beyond reproach.
