University Baptist Church is a financially secure, small congregation in Macomb, Illinois, averaging about 15 people per week, with a goal to grow as the Lord provides.
About the role
This is a part-time position with an expected weekly schedule of 25 hours. Bi-vocational applicants are welcome.
Pay
Salary range is $36,000–$41,000, depending on experience, and includes an available parsonage and utilities.
Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct the worship service, including preparing and delivering sermons and leading the observance of ordinances.
- Lead the church in an effective program of witnessing and in a caring ministry for persons in the church and community.
- Lead in planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and evaluating the total program of the church.
- Attend council and committee meetings, and work with the deacons, church officers, and the councils as they perform their responsibilities.
- Cooperate with associational, state, and denominational leaders in matters of mutual interest and concern, and keep the church informed of denominational developments.
- Extend pastoral care through one-on-one contact, including:
- Visiting individuals in hospitals, nursing homes, or homebound.
- Staying in contact with those recovering at home.
- Contacting prospective members and those who have become inactive in church.
- Supporting people experiencing crisis or spiritual needs.
- Guiding people in times of anxiety, confusion, and doubt.
- Being available for individual or family counseling.
- Being present during times of celebration and grief.
- Visiting or contacting individuals undergoing diagnostic tests or procedures and supporting their families.
- Involve couples in pre-marriage counseling.
- Perform marriage ceremonies.
- Visit families that have lost a loved one and officiate funeral services.
- Maintain scheduled office hours (flexible as approved by the deacons) at the church.
- Handle other responsibilities as needed.
