Passenger Vehicle Driver - Part Time

About the role

The Passenger Vehicle Driver serves in the Facility Management Department at Malcolm X College, a part-time position serving the city's higher education mission.

Responsibilities

• Drives CCC transportation vehicles within prescribed routes according to schedules, picking up and dropping off students, faculty, and staff at designated locations.
• Assists with loading and unloading equipment or transported items from passenger vehicles.
• Provides customer service to passengers.
• Adheres to all transportation policies to ensure a safe environment for all passengers and the reliable operation of vehicles.
• Maintains logs and reports as required.
• Performs routine pre- and post-driving maintenance checks on the vehicle.
• Reports any issues or faulty devices on the vehicle to administration.
• Maintains cleanliness of the vehicle to ensure safe operating conditions.
• Adheres to CCC Customer Service Excellence standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• A valid Illinois Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger Endorsement (P) required
• Two years of passenger driving experience required
• Must be at least 21 years old
• Must have a safe driving record
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local traffic laws and regulations governing the operation of passenger vans and buses
• Knowledge of safe driving practices
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work within a culturally diverse environment
• Ability and willingness to work irregular schedules on an on-call basis, including nights, weekends, overnight travel, and some holidays
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally as needed

Pay

Salary range: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour

Schedule

On-call schedule with potential for night, weekend, and holiday work.
