PASRR Clinical Evaluator - PRN (LPCC, LMHC, LMFT, LCSW, NP, or PMHNP)

About the role

This PRN (as needed) position involves conducting Preadmission Screening and Resident Review (PASRR) Level II assessments, making level-of-care recommendations, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and government regulations. The role offers a flexible, hybrid schedule combining telehealth and in-person assessments at nursing facilities and hospitals in the Los Angeles, CA area.

Responsibilities

• Complete accurate PASRR Level II assessments by reviewing records, gathering collateral information, and evaluating individuals’ physical, behavioral, and psychological functioning.
• Develop evidence-based level-of-care recommendations and determine appropriate next steps for individuals requiring long-term care placement.
• Review and verify medical records, providing clinical recommendations in accordance with regulatory requirements, including psychiatric input, physician notes, and timely completion of assessments.
• Interact with healthcare professionals, patients, families, and internal partners to support the assessment and review process.
• Leverage technology, web-based applications, and proprietary software to perform job functions and manage assessment activities.
• Ensure compliance with workflows, complete assessments within scope of practice, and meet contractual and program requirements.
• Determine clinical diagnoses accounting for psychological, behavioral, and physical issues.
• Assess and analyze psychological, emotional, behavioral, and physical functioning.
• Adhere to corporate policies, including HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules.

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted California licensure in a healthcare or related field (e.g., LPCC, LMHC, LMFT, LCSW, NP, or PMHNP).
• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in a relevant field.
• 3+ years of experience assessing and/or diagnosing individuals with mental or psychiatric disorders, including complex differential diagnoses (e.g., substance use, medical conditions, cognitive impairment, dementia, and geriatric populations).
• 1+ years of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, serious mental illness, or related conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong clinical judgment, evidence-based assessment, and critical-thinking skills.
• Proficiency in medical record abstraction and review, including knowledge of medical terminology and disease processes.
• Knowledge of Federal Regulation 42 CFR, Chapter 483.
• Familiarity with psychiatric disorders as defined by the current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM).
• Understanding of standards of practice for level-of-care determinations, mental health, intellectual and developmental disabilities, geriatrics, and long-term care services.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with individuals and groups through spoken, written, and electronic media.
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) and experience with web-based tools and platforms.

Pay

USD $34.58 - USD $42.00 per hour. Placement within this range depends on years of applicable experience and skill level.
