Party & Event Host

About the role

We are looking for an outgoing, crafty person to help engage customers in our in-store events and host parties. You will be responsible for crafts and teaching customers to craft. The role is primarily weekends and weekday evenings.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and facilitate events (including kids' birthday parties) within a Michaels store to provide a stress-free, fun, and engaging experience for guests.
• Deliver friendly customer service by helping customers shop and find what they’re looking for.
• Ensure all customers receive a fast and friendly checkout experience.
• Complete operational tasks including truck unload, merchandise duties, and maintaining store recovery standards.

Event Coordination

• Plan and coordinate multiple events at once, including children’s birthday parties and other craft classes or events.
• Engage with clients of all ages (4 to 94+) by creating an environment of fun and creativity.
• Demonstrate and instruct party participants in the completion of craft projects, perform face painting, and other activities.
• Facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags, balloons, etc., to company standards.
• Communicate events with clients and store team members.
• Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork.
• Adjust plans and events based on client feedback and needs.
• Create backup or emergency plans to be executed as needed.
• Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.
• Uphold the company’s cleanliness and safety standards. Set up, break down, and clean before and after each event.

Customer Experience

• Help customers shop, locate products, and provide them with solutions.
• Provide a fast and friendly checkout experience.
• Engage customers on benefits of the Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and complete enrollments.
• Educate customers on the Voice of Customer (VOC) survey.
• Assist with Omni channel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS).
• Participate in truck unload, stocking, and planogram (POGs) processes.
• Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance.
• Perform Store in Stock Optimization (SISO) and AD set duties as assigned.
• Support shrink and safety programs.
• Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Company programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and requirements.
• Interact with others in an accepting and respectful manner; remain positive and respectful, even in difficult situations.
• Cross-trained in Custom Framing selling and production.
• Participate in daily store cleanliness activities including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and maintaining cleanliness of restrooms.

• Retail and/or customer service experience required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to remain standing for long periods of time.
• Ability to move throughout the store.
• Regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and stretching.
• Lifting heavy boxes and accessing high shelves by ladder or similar equipment.

Work Environment

Public retail store setting taking care of customers; all public areas are climate-controlled; some stock rooms may not be climate-controlled. Some outdoor work if assigned to retrieve shopping carts or while unloading trucks. Frame shop contains glass cutter and heat press. Work hours include nights, weekends, and early mornings.
