Party and Event Host

Job Summary

Michaels is seeking a Party and Event Host to fuel the joy of creativity and celebration in our stores. This role requires weekend availability to plan, coordinate, and facilitate events, including kids' birthday parties, and provide friendly customer service.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and facilitate events within a Michaels store to provide a fun and engaging experience for guests.
• Deliver friendly customer service by helping customers shop and finding products.
• Ensure all customers receive a fast and friendly checkout experience.
• Complete operational tasks including truck unload, merchandise duties, and maintaining store recovery standards.
• Engage with clients of all ages, from 4 to 94+, by creating an environment of fun and creativity.
• Demonstrate and instruct party participants in the completion of craft projects, perform face painting and other activities.
• Facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags, balloons, etc. to company standards.
• Communicate events with clients and store team members.
• Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork.
• Adjust plans and events based on client's feedback and needs.
• Create backup or emergency plans to be executed as needed.
• Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.
• Uphold the company’s cleanliness and safety standards.
• Set up, break down, and clean before and after each event.

Requirements

• Availability on weekends.
• Experience working with children and children's events.
• Excellent communication skills including written, verbal, and nonverbal communication as well as listening skills.
• Organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and creative problem-solving skills.
• Retail and/or customer service experience.

• The ability to handle job stress and interact effectively with others, including guests of all ages and co-workers.
• Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to remain standing for long periods of time.
• Ability to move throughout the store.
• Regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and stretching.
• Lifting heavy boxes and accessing high shelves by ladder or similar equipment.
