Parts Warehouse Worker

Working Hours/Days

• Day Shift: Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day, with overtime as needed.

About the Role

This position supports the Parts Department in the Altorfer Industries Power Systems division, which sells and services Caterpillar engine products and accessories.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service in order picking, packing, and shipping of parts.
• Receiving and storage of emergency and stock orders from vendors.
• Performs physical inventory counts in coordination with inventory control and parts management.
• Operates company vehicles, including lift trucks, as needed.
• Complete required paperwork and computer data entry.
• Assist with customer parts counter sales processing, as needed.
• Ability to assist with ascertaining part number; inspect worn, damaged, or defective part to determine customer needs based on good product knowledge of the equipment.
• Support Product Support Field Sales/Inside Sales/Equipment Sales/Service teams to help them achieve overall company goals.
• Participate and complete training as required and/or available.
• Aid in customer order processing and assist with backorder processing, as needed.
• Operate within all parts policies and procedures of the company.
• Maintain a strong sense of urgency to meet customer needs.
• Maintain a positive attitude and high personal morale.
• Take initiative in the performance of daily duties.
• Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
• Show good organization skills and ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
• Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of two to three years of prior related experience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• General knowledge in parts support, inventory control, and parts department operations.
• Basic math ability for calculations such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume, etc.

Skills

• General knowledge of engine parts and equipment parts.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as parts prints, operating and maintenance instructions, service manuals, procedure manuals, and safety rules.
• Warehouse training/experience in a distribution field.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Physical strength and dexterity for manual labor.
• Basic computer skills, including computer entry systems and Microsoft Outlook.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to secure lift truck certification.

Pay

• $19.87 - $28.39 per hour USD.

Schedule

• Flexible during peak season to work overtime as needed.
• Occasional local travel may be required to deliver parts to customers.

Physical Demands

• Sit at a desk for long periods of time.
• Answer phone calls and write or use a keyboard to communicate through email.
• Walk, bend, and lift up to 75 pounds.

Work Environment

• Office environment with some outside exposure.
• May be exposed to noise levels ranging from low to moderate.
• The wearing of approved safety equipment (i.e. safety glasses with side shields and steel toe footwear) is required.
