Parts Warehouse Lead

About the role

This position assumes leadership roles and assists in the successful daily management of the parts warehouse functions. The Parts Warehouse Lead responds to company needs in a positive, caring manner while showing a sense of urgency in communicating with customers during the processing of their parts orders. This role supports the Parts Warehouse Supervisor by providing direction and support for warehouse personnel to ensure customer needs are satisfied while adhering to company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Models, promotes, and reinforces the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with the company’s Vision, Values, and Mission
• Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
• Adheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations
• Maintains all company equipment, warehouse environment, tools, and work areas in good, clean, and working order
• Completes all parts order pulling transactions for external and internal customers accurately, timely, and supportively to ensure customer satisfaction
• Completes all stock replenishment tasks accurately and timely to ensure proper inventory status in the parts warehouse
• Maintains parts operations office, warehouse, and outside yards in a neat and orderly condition as assessed by the department manager
• Develops sales and inventory skills by completing internal training programs as determined by performance review goal setting for self-improvement and achievement of other Key Result Areas (KRAs)
• Completes internal parts orders, identifies parts for return, and communicates job status to supervisor as needed
• Places and receives 3rd party orders through the CODA system
• Supports peripheral projects for other departments to ensure company success and achievement of stated goals
• Provides task and behavior-oriented supervision, mentoring, and training to others
• Assists with interviews, performance reviews for Clerks 1 & 2, and documentation of corrective actions
• Handles majority of administrative WMS duties (exceptions, searcher queues, order escalations, etc.)
• Ensures monthly safety training and meetings are attended by all personnel
• Performs housekeeping duties while adhering to contamination control guidelines
• Works overtime as required by workload and assumes after-hour call-out rotation to assist customers with after-hour needs
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Six or more years of experience
• Ability to meet all requirements as outlined in the Parts Warehouse Position Designation Guidelines, including order pulling, job-related software, forklift operation, hydraulic hose building, ladder JSA, battery JSA, prime mover JSA, will counter operations, and all applicable policies and procedures
• Extensive working knowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
• Proficiency with current computer software and related hardware
• Operation and control skills of equipment or systems
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish working relationships with multiple departments and various levels of the organization
• Equipment selection skills by determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job
• Ability to follow logical troubleshooting procedures
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair, including an overhead crane
• Ability to operate a conventional forklift
• Ability to operate controls of a machine or vehicle quickly and repeatedly to exact positions
• Self-starting and self-motivated with effective influencing abilities
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to read, write, and understand information
• Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences

Travel

Up to 10% travel may be required and may include overnight stays.

Physical Requirements

• Significant amount of time standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, stooping, climbing, and reaching
• Constant movement and use of hands; requires good manual dexterity
• Communicates with customers, supervisor, manager, and co-workers
• Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals including alarms and instructions; requires visual inspection of work
• Frequently lifts and moves materials and equipment up to 50 lbs.; must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
• Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet; climbs up and down ladders and/or equipment

Work Environment

• Regularly works indoors around moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity
• Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment
• Works in extremely bright or inadequate lighting
• Exposure to high noise levels and body vibration
• Works in an enclosed and open vehicle or equipment
• Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment
• Exposure to minor burns, cuts, bites, or stings
