Parts Specialist
Duties And Responsibilities
- Takes calls from external customers, technicians, and vendors, fills orders from stock.
- Researches replacement parts using parts manual, computer listings, or microfiche as appropriate.
- Discusses use and features of various parts.
- Fills customer orders from stock or by special order.
- Orders parts for stock replenishment.
- Advises customer on substitution or modification of part when replacement is not available.
- Updates customers regarding the status of backordered parts in an acceptable time frame.
- Prepares Sales Orders for invoicing, receives payment, obtains credit authorization when necessary.
- Participates in general inventories and cycle counts as necessary.
- Initiates proper documentation to maintain accurate inventory and sales records.
- Works with and supports other Parts Sales Specialists regarding the sale of material handling equipment.
- Participates in promoting overall sales.
- Affixes at order entry, consignment replenishments, and consignment maintenance.
- Distributes and explains Raymond Corporation Service and Parts Bulletins to other parts staff.
- Assists at back counter and in Stockroom as directed or as needed; presses tires as needed.
- Participates in Parts Department training and meetings.
- Performs various duties directly or indirectly associated with parts sales activity as assigned.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and similar software.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
- Maintains effective working relationships with employees, co-workers, and managers in other departments.
- Willing to work off-hours as specific needs dictate and willing to assume more responsibility as required.
- Maintains a consistent state of alertness and safe manner while fulfilling essential job functions.
- Possesses a general understanding of, and familiarity with, machine parts and their functions.
- Able to communicate effectively with employees, manufacturers, and vendors at all levels, in person, on the telephone or via electronic media.
- Willing to learn new computer programs, inventory procedures, parts manuals, and price books.
- Willing to support all phases of the department and company as needed.
- Able to perform duties under minimal supervision, adjust to changes, and demonstrate drive and initiative.
- Willing to continually learn new products and procedures.
- Able to manage time effectively.
- Knowledgeable in interpretation of parts manual and computer programs.
- Capable of learning all phases of the Parts Department operation with the desire to increase responsibility as the need develops.
- Willing to work off-hours as specific needs dictate.

- Maintains an organized and tidy work area.
- Able to manage time effectively.

Education/Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Position is non-sedentary.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- The position will require employees to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee is occasionally required to smell.
- The position requires the employee to climb/balance/stoop/kneel/crouch and crawl.
- The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and the risk of electrical shock.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat; and vibration.
- The noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud.
Pay Range
The hourly range for this position is $23.00 - $31.00. The specific pay offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. Qualified candidates must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
