About the Role
Midwest Applied Solutions delivers commercial HVAC rental solutions with speed and precision, handling everything from one-ton spot coolers to large-scale chillers and cooling towers for both planned projects and 24/7 emergencies. This role sits within our Parts Division, focusing on processing customer orders, addressing inquiries, and ensuring customer satisfaction and retention through effective remedies and support.
Responsibilities
- Sell HVAC parts, equipment, and supplies through phone, counter sales, and occasional customer sales calls.
- Research customer needs, identify parts, prepare quotes and proposals, and convert quotes to orders using Great Plains software.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for customers, handling calls professionally, gathering accurate information for parts and bid requests, and providing technical product support.
- Manage customer orders from quote through delivery, including order entry, expediting, invoicing, and follow-up to ensure satisfaction.
- Promote product offerings, pricing programs, and current promotions to customers.
- Provide high-level customer service by responding to inquiries, resolving complaints, and determining solutions in line with company policies.
- Communicate with vendors to source, order, outsource, and expedite parts as needed.
- Coordinate parts returns, warranty claims, and customer parts stocking programs.
- Assist with inventory management, including stocking levels, shipment receiving, inventory reconciliation, and database updates.
- Load, unload, pack, ship, and deliver parts, supplies, and equipment, including receiving UPS/FedEx and other carrier deliveries.
- Maintain accurate documentation such as purchase orders, warranties, invoices, and related paperwork for compliance and timely customer response.
- Participate in customer-sponsored events and make occasional small parts deliveries to customer locations or job sites.
- Learn and apply HVAC parts business processes while demonstrating strong organizational skills, customer focus, and flexibility to work overtime or weekends as needed.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of parts counter sales or equivalent sales experience.
- Associate’s Degree in Business or related field preferred.
- Computer skills are essential; HVAC parts background is preferred.
- HVAC, mechanical contracting, engineering, or construction industry experience is a plus.
Skills
- Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence and present information effectively in one-on-one and small group settings.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios, percentages, and interpret graphs.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form and solve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Strong problem-solving and multitasking skills.
- Physical Demands: Regular use of hands for keyboard and telephone operation, reaching with hands and arms. Frequent standing, walking, and sitting; occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Requires close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception, as well as the ability to adjust focus.
- Environmental Requirements: Work primarily in an office environment with occasional fieldwork.
Pay
This position offers a salary range of $60,000–$80,000 annually, with final compensation determined based on relevant experience and qualifications.
