Parts Department Lead
Lamers Bus Lines is hiring a full-time Parts Department Lead in Green Bay, WI to support our bus maintenance and service operations across Wisconsin.
About the role
This is a hands-on parts and inventory leadership position responsible for automotive and heavy-duty bus parts ordering, receiving, inventory control, shipping, vendor communication, and warranty claims. You will work closely with Lamers service facilities to ensure the right parts are available when needed.
Responsibilities
- Order bus, automotive, diesel, and heavy-duty vehicle parts for Lamers service facilities throughout Wisconsin.
- Receive, organize, stock, pull, package, and ship parts to Lamers terminals and maintenance facilities.
- Work with vendors to obtain product information, availability, and competitive price quotes.
- Negotiate parts pricing and seek the best value before placing orders.
- Maintain accurate parts inventory levels, identify shortages, and keep inventory balanced.
- Communicate with Lamers terminals and maintenance staff to identify parts and equipment needs.
- Process and track parts warranties, ensuring Lamers receives appropriate warranty credits.
- Use computer systems daily for parts lookup, ordering, purchasing, inventory management, shipping, warranty processing, and communication.
- Load and unload parts and other materials delivered by truck; operate a forklift as needed.
- Move vehicles and equipment in and out of the shop and test drive buses and other vehicles after repairs.
- Drive company vehicles when necessary for routes, service needs, or breakdown situations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient parts department while following company safety procedures.
Requirements
- Previous parts department, automotive parts, diesel parts, fleet maintenance, heavy-duty equipment, or related experience preferred.
- Formal training in automotive, diesel, fleet, or parts management is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of bus, truck, automotive, or diesel equipment and parts.
- Comfortable using computers for purchasing, inventory control, parts research, shipping, communication, and record keeping.
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Able to multi-task and prioritize multiple parts requests at the same time.
- Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to accurately identify and communicate parts needs with vendors and service locations.
- Ability to safely lift, move, load, and unload parts and materials. Forklift experience preferred.
- Valid CDL Class B with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsement required for operating company vehicles. Lamers Bus Lines offers in-house support for employees who need to obtain the required CDL.
