About the role
At E.A. Sween, we are seeking a detailed-oriented individual to manage parts inventory for the Maintenance department. This role involves following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for food safety, collaborating with colleagues, and maintaining a stable maintenance environment.
Responsibilities
- Follow GMP to ensure food safety and integrity.
- Always adhere to safety protocols and use designated PPE in required areas.
- Collaborate, communicate, and learn from people with diverse backgrounds, cultures, abilities, languages, or perspectives.
- Fill out all department paperwork correctly and on time.
- Order and receive parts for production equipment and the facility using CMMS.
- Set up new parts in CMMS and order appropriate parts based on consumption and planned work.
- Establish, improve, and maintain cycle count processes for at least all "A" priority parts and consumables.
- Edit cycle count processes based on feedback from mechanics.
- Display advanced knowledge and ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, blueprints, P&ID's.
- Show a basic knowledge of tools, methods, and skills required to complete maintenance activities.
- Show knowledge of parts coordinating principles, practices, methods, and tools.
- Able to set priorities, work independently, and coordinate multiple activities.
- Able to maintain attention to detail and complete activities in a timely manner despite interruptions and changing priorities.
- Work with external vendors and/or contractors to locate parts; find alternate vendors as needed.
- Provide leadership in keeping maintenance spend at or below budgeted amount.
- Aid in culture change to a more stable maintenance environment (move away from fire-fighting culture).
- Assist in regulatory and customer requirements, understanding of HACCP plans, and reporting any questionable products to QA or QC or Production Supervisors.
- Teamwork: Accept work instructions and complete requests from co-workers; accept feedback from others; provide input and feedback on department updates, status, changes, etc.; provide leadership to others both internally and externally to the department; effectively train others on Parts Process requirements and expectations as needed.
- Continuous Improvement: Understand general principles and goals of EAS Continuous Improvement/LEAN program; participate in a cost reduction project; identify and help execute cost savings of at least $25,000; standardize work; understand and complete advanced functions of the Parts Coordinator function utilizing CMMS; create new part, maintain key parts inventory levels, cycle count consumables on a periodic basis, develop and improve CMMS infrastructure; own storeroom layout; request mechanics feedback, layout/organization, labeling/barcoding; work with vendors to decrease parts cost; understand and complete basic functions of Maintenance Planner duties utilizing CMMS; create work orders, schedule work orders to employees, add new equipment; work with mechanics and others to understand effectiveness of current parts process; actively request feedback, address common GPS notes; complete required paperwork for the department; track and report key maintenance metrics.
- Equipment & PPE: Computer Cart, Pallet Jack, Box cutter, Ear plugs, Hard hat.
Qualifications
- High school education or equivalent.
- Experience in parts ordering, storing, and inventory control positions.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to operate independently yet as part of a team.
- Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
- Self-starter and highly motivated with excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal, teambuilding, and leadership skills.
- Able to troubleshoot and problem solve.
- Able to work flexible hours and occasional weekends when needed.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to work well with others and have a teamwork mindset; communicate effectively.
- Able to maintain a good attendance record.
- Able to keep work area clean, safe, and organized.
Preferred
- Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance or related technical discipline with at least 32 credit hours completed.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
- Exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration frequently.
- Able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb continuously.
- Able to lift and move items 75-100 lbs frequently.
- Able to have acceptable vision, including close up/distance, able to identify colors, peripheral, depth perception, and able to visually focus continuously.
- Able to work in cool temperatures of 32-45 degrees occasionally.
