Parts Buyer

About the Role

Responsible for the purchasing function for all maintenance repair and replacement parts, maintaining correct inventory levels and accountability for stocked maintenance repair parts at the assigned location. Maximizes profitability by obtaining competitive bidding for maintenance parts and materials, ensuring top quality at the best possible price with favorable delivery and service schedules.

Responsibilities

• Assists Purchasing Agent in overseeing daily operations of the purchasing department, including schedules, assignments, staffing, labor utilization, and cost management.
• Maintains accurate and current inventory records of all maintenance supply and repair parts; conducts physical inventories as required.
• Obtains competitive bidding on requisitioned items to ensure the highest quality at the best price and favorable delivery/service agreements.
• Coordinates with the purchasing department at the General Office.
• Maintains warehouse in an orderly manner, compliant with USDA standards.
• Issues parts and supplies as requested, ensuring accurate accountability and a cooperative atmosphere.
• Reconciles purchase orders with incoming supplies to confirm receipt of all requisitioned goods.
• Provides leadership, training, and encouragement in a safety-conscious environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school graduate; two years of junior college or equivalent experience.
• Two or more years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Good communication skills, both oral and written.
• Proficiency with personal computers, typewriters, calculators, and related tools.
• Strong analytical ability and skill in analyzing bids/pricing.

Office setting with duties including extensive computer work, sitting, or standing.
