Parts and Service Specialist
Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is North America’s largest Kenworth truck dealership group and leasing group. This role combines the responsibilities of a Service Advisor and Counter Salesperson.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers openly and friendly; coordinate customer repair requests.
- Estimate cost of repairs within set guidelines.
- Assist Service Manager with clerical duties, including documentation for warranty, policy settlements, repair order filing, and repair preparation for warranty.
- Assist all customers and mechanics in securing needed parts and supplies.
- Achieve monthly sales and gross profit forecasts; seek and solicit parts sales.
- Coordinate customer repair orders with Service Manager and Shop Foremen for task assignment.
- Schedule shop business with Foremen to ensure proper workflow.
- Ensure customers receive expedient service by understanding repair requests.
- Work with customers and mechanics to fulfill parts requirements.
- Prepare invoices for over-the-counter sales and house requisitions for parts issued to shops.
- Enter lost sales into the inventory system to maintain proper inventory levels.
- Provide Parts Manager with information on parts required for inventory.
- Work with Service Manager to resolve disputes and warranty issues promptly.
- Ensure all documentation for labor sales (customer, internal, and warranty) is complete and properly executed.
- Input and close repair order information in the data processing system.
- Inform Service Manager of customer complaints to address them before the vehicle leaves the shop.
- Advise customers on needed service work and suggest additional labor, parts, and body shop sales (e.g., Preventive Maintenance Inspections, related service work).
- Participate in training to stay current on technical and warranty issues.
- Maintain a clean shop and office area.
- Perform other duties as assigned by a supervisor.
Requirements
- Minimum 4 years' experience in a related field.
- Experience dealing with the public in a sales/service capacity (preferred).
- Computer experience (preferred).
- Strong customer relations and communication skills.
- Good leadership abilities.
- Positive, can-do attitude.
- CDL (preferred).
