Partner Attorney – Insurance Defense Litigation

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage complex insurance defense litigation matters from inception through trial or resolution.
  • Develop and execute litigation strategy, including depositions, motion practice, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for insurance carrier clients, providing strategic guidance and case management.
  • Build and maintain long-term client relationships while supporting business development initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with carrier litigation guidelines, reporting requirements, and billing protocols.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop associate attorneys and legal staff.
  • Contribute to firm operations, recruiting, process improvements, and strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with firm leadership to support continued growth and client service excellence.

Required Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active Bar license in Arizona and/or New Mexico (or ability to obtain admission promptly).
  • 9+ years of civil litigation experience with a primary focus on insurance defense.
  • Extensive first-chair trial and/or arbitration experience.
  • Strong background representing insurance carriers or carrier-appointed defense clients.
  • Demonstrated history of compliant billing practices and strong productivity.
  • Experience supervising and mentoring attorneys.
  • Ability to thrive in a performance-based compensation environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Portable book of insurance defense business or strong client relationships.
  • Established relationships within the regional insurance defense and carrier community.
  • Experience handling complex matters involving general liability, professional liability, construction defect, coverage disputes, or similar practice areas.
  • Previous involvement in firm leadership, operations, strategic planning, or business development initiatives.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Target compensation of $140,000-$175,000 based on annual billable expectations.
  • No cap on earning potential for high-performing attorneys.
