Part-Time Weekend News Editor

Responsibilities

• Lead The Daily Wire's weekend newsroom, setting editorial priorities and directing coverage of breaking news and major developing stories.
• Make real-time editorial decisions, determining story placement, urgency, and resource allocation to ensure timely, impactful reporting.
• Oversee the reporting, editing, and publication of news content, ensuring accuracy, clarity, speed, and adherence to editorial standards.
• Manage and mentor weekend reporters by assigning stories, providing editorial guidance, and ensuring deadlines are met.
• Cook up breaking news coverage, adapting quickly to evolving events and maintaining high-quality journalism in a fast-paced environment.
• Partner with homepage, audience, production, and editorial teams to maximize the reach and impact of weekend coverage.
• Exercise sound editorial judgment while collaborating with senior leadership and legal counsel, as needed, to ensure responsible, ethical, and legally compliant reporting.
• Protect confidential information and journalistic sources while maintaining the highest standards of integrity and information security.

Requirements & Experience

• Background in Journalism, Communications, Political Science, or related field preferred.
• Strong editorial judgment in news journalism.
• Exceptional editing and fact-checking skills.
• Deep understanding of news cycles, politics, and current events.
• Ability to make sound decisions under deadline pressure.
