About the role

Join our team as a Part-Time Weekend Barn Attendant responsible for the overall cleanliness and neatness of the Medicine facility, providing a safe and sterile environment for all patients within the barns, including Isolation, ICU, and Intermediate. Responsibilities

• Stalls:
  • Clean all stalls daily, regardless of whether a patient is present.
  • Remove fecal matter, wet areas, and debris; scrub walls to eliminate stains and debris.
  • Rake and sweep corners and stall floors to remove excess debris.
  • Follow disinfecting procedures as defined by the Infectious Disease Protocol officer.
  • Distribute fresh straw evenly in stalls; replace as needed.
  • Empty and replace water buckets after cleaning.
  • Strip and disinfect stalls when patients discharge.
• Exterior Stalls:
  • Sweep excess straw away from stall doors, door stops, and corners.
  • Clean stall doors and windows to remove debris or straw stuck in grates.
  • Clean and refill dip pans outside stalls.
  • Remove debris from stall ledges, trap doors, and corners; sweep excess straw into the muck system.
• Aisleways:
  • Sweep aisles completely, removing straw and debris from corners, baseboards, and muck grates.
  • Spray aisleways as needed.
• Feed Rooms:
  • Restock feed rooms and organize tools (forks, rakes, brooms) on brackets.
  • Sweep behind buckets, stack buckets, and wipe off ledges.
• Muck System:
  • Remove straw and debris from around and inside muck system equipment after each use.
  • Check and clean drains daily.
• Parking Lots & Barn Exteriors:
  • Remove straw, garbage, and debris from barn edges, parking lots, and around the Hyperbaric Chamber.
  • Remove fecal matter, hose spray, and disinfect as necessary.
• Hay Shed:
  • Maintain cleanliness by removing straw, garbage, and debris from bays and edges.
  • Stack straw and hay properly; remove broken bales daily.
  • Empty garbage daily, removing loose twine or string.
  • Remove cobwebs, dust, and debris from temporary stall railings.
• Donor Horses:
  • Provide feed, hay, and water daily.
  • Clean tubs in paddocks weekly.
  • Inspect horses daily for proper care, handling, and any scrapes, cuts, or lacerations.
• Loading Chutes & Horse Paths:
  • Remove debris or fecal matter from loading chutes and horse paths daily.
• Equipment & Tools:
  • Roll up muck truck tarp after each use.
  • Maintain cleanliness inside and outside all company vehicles.
• Performance Expectations:
  • Be dependable, punctual, and willing to stay beyond scheduled hours if needed.
  • Maintain high-quality standards in facility appearance and cleanliness.
  • Conduct yourself professionally, refraining from inappropriate language or behavior.
  • Communicate problems constructively to management and offer solutions.
  • Deliver superb customer service with a “yes we can” attitude.
  • Guide other personnel in adhering to procedures and proper protocol.

Requirements

• Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Work Environment

The work environment includes:

• Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
• Occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
• Moderate noise levels.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Schedule

• Part-Time, Day shift, Weekend only (Saturday and Sunday).

Pay

• Pay Range: $15.87—$16 USD per hour.
