About the Role
The Unit Clerk supports clinical operations by handling administrative tasks, maintaining patient confidentiality, and ensuring smooth daily functions within a healthcare practice.
Responsibilities
- Adheres to professionalism, dress code, and confidentiality standards, including HIPAA compliance.
- Supports team collaboration, maintains organization in the reception and waiting areas, and manages supplies.
- Verifies insurance coverage, updates patient demographics, and documents information accurately in electronic health records.
- Schedules, cancels, and reschedules appointments per physician instructions.
- Communicates effectively with patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers, providing updates and instructions.
- Performs clerical tasks such as printing, faxing, and completing forms, reports, and authorizations.
- Assists in office opening and closing procedures, ensuring proper setup and shutdown of equipment.
- Maintains a positive attitude, demonstrates flexibility, and supports peer training.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1+ years of computer proficiency and healthcare or customer service experience.
- Preferred: experience with electronic health records, scheduling, and authorizations.

Pay
$16–$29 per hour.
