Part-Time Twilight Teacher (up to 20 Hours/Week) -- 2025-2026
Position Overview
The Part-Time Twilight Teacher (up to 20 Hours/Week) will work at Middletown High School, providing appropriate learning experiences for students under the direction of the Program Director. The role involves creating an environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Supervise students in various school-related settings
- Maintain appropriate records and follow required procedures
- Monitor and evaluate student outcomes
- Communicate and interact with students, parents, staff, and the community
- Develop, select, and modify instructional plans and materials
- Maintain equipment, materials, and facilities
- Teach online courses and ensure all students complete each class attempted
- Work, dress, and behave in a professional manner
- Maintain high time on task and accurate records

Training
Appoquinimink School District may require you to be trained in Safety-Care or a similar competency-based crisis prevention intervention training program as a condition of your continued employment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being performed in relation to this position. Other work may be assigned when deemed appropriate:
- Know and understand high school curriculum
- Understand the process of student enrollment, including application, attend parent meetings
- Work with school counselor to coordinate student course enrollment
- Understand attendance policy and enforce it
- Use E-School to record student attendance, upload required documentation for September 30th count and monthly grade reports
- Submit completed course grades to sending school counselor
- Attend IEP meetings, as needed
- Work with the Twilight and Credit Recovery staff to keep students on track for course completion
- Stay abreast of all high school curriculum changes and updates and implement into curriculum
- Develop a positive relationship with students
- Help to maintain the school's professional appearance
- Maintain high time on task
- Maintain accurate records
Minimum Qualifications
- State of Delaware Secondary content and Special Education Teacher certification required
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college
- Hold or be eligible for State of Delaware teacher certification in the identified content area (Special Education preferred)
- Demonstrate knowledge of subject content, curriculum, and effective teaching methods
- Apply current research and theory to instructional programs
- Use multi-media and computer technology to enhance learning
- Establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with students, peers, administrators, and parents
- Show demonstrated skill in oral and written communications; excellent human relations skills
Physical Requirements
- Sit for long periods of time
- Erect up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
Physical and Environmental Conditions
The work of this class is generally performed in a school environment. Work may require the ability to move around the school and classroom.
