Pay rate: $16.17 per hour (up to 1,500 hours per year). Eligible part-time employees will receive up to a $5.75 per hour retention bonus for all hours worked from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Schedule
- 7-day per week operation; staff must be available to work as scheduled
- Weather-dependent; may result in cancelled or shortened work schedules
- Required to work assigned special events, weekends, evenings, and holidays
- Must adjust schedule to meet organizational needs
Responsibilities
- Verifies permits and change fund in the morning and balances permit sales and cash receipts at the end of shift
- Collects permit fees from vehicles entering the park
- Attaches permits to windshields of all vehicles
- Keeps sufficient supply of permits, change, park maps, and brochures; requests partial pick-up as needed
- Knowledgeable about park rules, regulations, policies, and facilities; disseminates information to park visitors
- Familiar with current and future special events in the park and other parks
- Assists park operations as time allows
- Maintains a clean and well-organized toll booth
Requirements
- Ability to get along with co-workers, supervisors, and park visitors
- Ability to distinguish letters and symbols
- Ability to accurately make change when selling permits
- Ability to work varied hours depending on park demands
- Ability to perform essential duties
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions

- Personal computer (database, scheduling, publishing, spreadsheet, and word processing software)
- Calculator, cash register, copy & fax machines
- Phone, radios, automobile
Physical Demands
- Frequently required to walk, sit, talk, and hear
- Occasionally required to use hands to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms
- Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required: vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus
Work Environment
- Frequently works in outside weather conditions
- May be exposed to heat, wet and/or humid conditions, chemicals, animals, foliage, and vegetation
- Noise level is usually quiet in the office and may be moderately loud in the field
