Part Time Title 1 Special Reading-Elementary

Fair Labor Standards Act Status: Exempt. Reports to Building Principal.

Job Goal

To create a flexible elementary grade program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for elementary grade education, in accordance with each pupil's ability; and to establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members.

Responsibilities

• Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
• Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and removing barriers to learning success.
• Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities.
• Participates in curriculum development programs as required.
• Works cooperatively and collaboratively with teachers, administrators, parents, and other staff members in the implementation of instruction.
• Supports classroom instruction.
• Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce the learning of materials or skills.
• Assists teachers in monitoring progress and student learning.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate.
• Elementary certification required.
• Reading K-12 Certification preferred.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Terms of Employment

Salary and work year to be established by the Board of Education.

Evaluation

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy using the Support Staff evaluation.
