Tellers serve as the first line of defense to mitigate fraud and protect LMCU and our members. Tellers are key contributors to the branch’s success by providing exceptional service, maintaining accuracy in transactions, and driving growth through a broad knowledge of LMCU products and services.
Responsibilities
- Member Experience
- Promote a positive member experience leading to retention through proactive engagement and building trusting relationships.
- Identify and address member needs, offering guidance about products and services aligned with their financial goals.
- Provide friendly, professional, and efficient service to ensure high satisfaction.
- Resolve conflicts and de-escalate adverse situations for positive outcomes.
- Transaction Processing and Cash Handling
- Accurately perform teller transactions (deposits, withdrawals, transfers, loan payments, check cashing, check ordering, wire requests) following LMCU policies.
- Maintain and balance a cash drawer daily, ensuring all cash is accounted for.
- Demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail in processing transactions.
- Apply strong risk management practices, including fraud prevention and robbery procedures.
- Identify red flags for risk and fraud using consultative conversations and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with LMCU policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Adhere to security protocols to ensure safety in the branch environment.
- Product Promotion/Growth
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of LMCU products and services, including benefits and features.
- Present solutions to members’ financial needs through consultative conversations.
- Actively identify opportunities to refer members to appropriate products and services.
- Contribute to branch goals by meeting referral and service targets.
- Learning & Development
- Continuously improve knowledge of LMCU products, services, policies, and systems through training.
- Educate members on digital platforms and emerging technology to meet their banking needs.
- Stay up-to-date on branch systems, operations, and technology for accurate and efficient service.
Requirements
- A minimum of one to three years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.
- Previous cash handling experience and knowledge of financial products and services preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent (required); some college coursework or banking experience is a plus.
