About Us

In 1954, the Chattanooga DuPont Plant was one of southeast Tennessee’s largest employers, hiring people from all over the tri-state region. Some of these people saw the need for a different kind of financial institution – one that could meet the financial needs of all its employees, including those with more limited means. Recognizing that credit unions embraced the philosophy of “people helping people,” the Chattanooga DuPont Nylon Employees Credit Union was organized and chartered on February 26, 1954. Since then, many changes have shaped Scenic Community Credit Union into the strong financial institution it is today. Mergers and expansions have allowed us to serve a larger group of people better than ever before. But our philosophy remains the same: we strive to advance financial peace of mind within our community.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine member transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, cash advances, loan payments, transfers, check cashing, cashier’s checks, and money orders.
• Assist members in opening new accounts, verifying information with outside services as required, and explaining eligibility requirements for membership.
• Navigate Microsoft Office applications and the Episys Core System to post routine transactions without assistance, determining who is authorized to conduct transactions on member accounts.
• Examine checks for endorsements and negotiability, and place appropriate holds when necessary.
• Provide members with proper receipts for transactions and account status, including current balances, loan payoffs, and account history.
• Cross-sell all services offered by the credit union.
• Process stop payments on share drafts, ACH, and bill payments.
• Accurately complete forms, including card orders, reloads, travel cards, card/check pickup, card disputes, and check ordering through the core system.
• Balance daily transactions quickly and accurately throughout the day and during the closing process, adhering to cash drawer limits.
• Scan member checks through ITC and perform Shared Branching transactions, reviewing documentation for accuracy and completeness.
• Provide member support via phone, online chat, and email.
• Direct members to dividend rates on deposit accounts, branch locations, business hours, and telephone numbers.
• Assist members in navigating the SCCU website.
• Courteously respond to member requests and complaints, escalating to the proper person when needed.
• Participate in and promote the credit union movement.
• Perform any additional duties assigned by management to support the credit union’s mission.

Requirements

• Basic math and computer skills.
• Ability to navigate Microsoft Office applications and the Episys Core System.
• Dependability and ability to work as part of a team.

Pay

$17 - $19 USD per hour (Ooltewah, TN).
