In 1954, the Chattanooga DuPont Plant was one of southeast Tennessee’s largest employers, hiring people from all over the tri-state region. Some of these people saw the need for a different kind of financial institution – one that could meet the financial needs of all its employees, including those with more limited means. Recognizing that credit unions embraced the philosophy of “people helping people,” the wheels were set in motion. On February 26, 1954, the Chattanooga DuPont Nylon Employees Credit Union was organized and chartered. Since then, many changes have shaped Scenic Community Credit Union into the strong financial institution it is today. Mergers and expansions have allowed us to serve a larger group of people better than ever before. But our philosophy is the same as that of the original founders: we strive to advance financial peace of mind within our community.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine member transactions, including but not limited to deposits, withdrawals, cash advances, loan payments, transfers, check cashing, cashier’s checks, and money orders.
• Assists members in opening new accounts, verifying the information provided with outside services as required, and understanding eligibility requirements for membership.
• Navigates Microsoft Office applications and the Episys Core System.
• Posts routine transactions to the computer system without needing assistance, understanding who is authorized to conduct transactions on members' accounts.
• Examines checks for endorsements and negotiability, and places appropriate holds when necessary.
• Provides members with proper receipts for their transactions.
• Cross-sells all services offered by the credit union.
• Processes stop payments on share drafts, ACH, and bill payments.
• Provides members with account status, including current balances, loan payoffs, and account history.
• Accurately completes forms including but not limited to card orders, reloads, travel cards, card/check pickup, card disputes, and check ordering through the core.
• Balances daily transactions quickly and accurately throughout the day and during the closing process, adhering to cash drawer limits.
• Scans member checks through ITC.
• Provides member support via phone, online chat, and email.
• Accurately performs Shared Branching transactions and reviews documentation for accuracy and completeness.
• Finds dividend rates on deposit accounts and directs members to all branch locations, business hours, and telephone numbers.
• Navigates the SCCU website and assists members in doing the same.
• Courteously responds to member requests/complaints and directs them to the proper person if the answer is unknown.
• Participates in and promotes the credit union movement.
• Performs any additional duties and responsibilities assigned by management that are job-related and necessary for the promotion and continuance of the credit union.

Requirements

• Possesses basic math and computer skills.
• Able to work as part of a team and demonstrates dependability.

Pay

The pay range for this role is $17–$19 USD per hour (Ooltewah, TN).
