About the Role
Perform transactional duties to serve members by receiving or paying out funds with the highest accuracy. Maintain accurate transactional records, provide cash receipt, account, and payment services in accordance with credit union policies and procedures, and cross-sell and promote credit union products and services.
Responsibilities
- Maintain excellence in delivering member service; greet and welcome members courteously, professionally, and timely, providing prompt, accurate, and efficient transactions.
- Provide account services: receive deposits and loan payments, cash checks, process withdrawals, pay out money after verification, record night and mail deposits, and sell cashier’s checks and money orders.
- Verify amounts, examine share drafts/checks for proper endorsement, and ensure accuracy when entering deposits into computer records.
- Cash share drafts/checks, process withdrawals, and redeem savings bonds.
- Accept check copy requests and check order requests from members.
- Process member requests such as wire transfers, address changes, stop payments, or cash advances.
- Maintain up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge of all credit union products and services handled or promoted by tellers.
- Promote credit union services, including electronic services, debit and credit cards, money orders, and safe deposit boxes.
- Cross-sell credit union products by answering inquiries, informing members of new services and promotions, ascertaining member needs, and directing members to branch representatives.
- Balance cash drawer at the end of the shift, compare totals to computer-generated balance sheets, research and resolve discrepancies, and report issues to supervisors.
- Scan daily work, perform other teller functions as needed, and assist others to complete tasks.
- Ensure the teller station is properly stocked with forms, supplies, and brochures.
- Serve in a dual control role when needed and maintain accurate data entry for member records and transactions.
- Adhere to security, internal control procedures, policies, mandatory training, compliance, and product training.
- Maintain knowledge of all related policies, procedures, and regulations, including robbery procedures.
- Demonstrate understanding and follow requirements of regulation compliance, including BSA, AML, OFAC, CIP, and MDD as they relate to job functions.
- Complete BSA/AML compliance training annually.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Communication, mathematical, and general business knowledge or equivalent to perform job duties satisfactorily.
- Six months of cash handling or cross-selling experience preferred.
- Accuracy, speed, customer relations, judgment, reliability, and ability to engage in relationship building.
- Highly positive, service-oriented attitude.
Physical Requirements
- Wrist/hand manipulation; ability to work at a workstation for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., bend, stoop, and reach overhead.
- Close vision for frequent viewing of computer monitors and documents.
- May require standing for extended periods.
- Clarity in speech and hearing for effective staff/member interaction.
- May require travel to alternate branch locations as scheduled or needed.

- Calculator, copy machine, currency counter, cash dispenser, cash advance terminal, ITM/ATM, and personal computer with Windows environment.
