Part-Time Teacher Interventionist

Reports to: Principal | Receives guidance from: Principal or Lead Teacher | Overtime status: Compliant with position, salary and FLSA regulations

About the Role

Responsibilities

• Meet and instruct assigned classes at designated times.
• Plan a program of study tailored to individual student needs, interests, and abilities.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate to student maturity and interests.
• Prepare for classes and provide written evidence of preparation upon request.
• Guide the learning process toward curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
• Use a variety of instructional techniques and media, aligned with student needs and physical limitations of the location.
• Implement the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals.
• Assess student accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports as assigned.
• Identify and report potential learning disabilities and provide required progress reports.
• Take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
• Assist in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct; develop and enforce classroom behavior rules.
• Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside instructional hours when required.
• Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides and volunteers; evaluate job performance cooperatively with department heads.
• Maintain and improve professional competence through training and professional development.
• Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees.
• Maintain regular, dependable, and punctual in-person attendance.
• Accept responsibility for district-owned fixed assets and ensure appropriate use.
• Undergo periodic evaluations per state and board policy.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Board of Education, superintendent, or district policy.
• Read, understand, and abide by the Employee Conduct Policy, district policies, and the Mississippi Educator Code of Conduct.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Education.
• Appropriate Mississippi Teaching Credential or valid emergency certification.
• Five or more years of proven teaching experience with a track record of student growth.

Work Environment

The work environment includes the entire active school campus, both inside and outside facilities. Noise levels are usually low to moderate but may occasionally be high.
