Part-time Specialist, Writing and Languages Tutor

Job Description

The Tutor Training Program at Santa Fe College aims to recruit, train, support, and retain qualified personnel to work in concert with faculty and student support staff to create a holistic academic experience. The program's ongoing training focuses on creating a culture that encourages continuous improvement for students, tutors, and other staff members.

Responsibilities And Duties Include

• Provides consistent and standardized writing and languages tutoring services for students in multiple disciplines and at all levels, as well as at all campus and center locations.
• Affords students the opportunity to become confident, self-directed, lifelong learners through tutoring.
• Creates an atmosphere of collaboration, trust, and respect among students, faculty, and peer tutors.
• Aids students with subject-matter questions, goal setting, planning, time management, and study skills.
• Participates in on-going training and evaluation cycle, as assigned.
• Complies with all published College Rules, procedures, guidelines, and laws/regulations governing public employees, including but not limited to those related to document retention and destruction, FERPA, and confidentiality.
• Strictly honors the privacy, security, and confidentiality of records and other sensitive information according to appropriate state, federal, and college regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Provides service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required

• A bachelor's degree in English, creative writing, journalism, or a related discipline and/or a combination of related education and experience equal to four (4) years.
