Part Time Special Education Complex Needs Paraprofessional - Enoch Elementary

About the role

Enoch Elementary is seeking a Part Time Special Education Complex Needs Paraprofessional to work 27.5 hours per week. This position will remain open until filled.

Responsibilities

• Work under the direction of the Special Education Complex Needs Teacher to provide education and related services to students with disabilities.
• Lift and support students, change protective clothing, implement behavior management plans, and operate adaptive equipment (wheelchairs, etc.).
• Communicate effectively with students and staff.
• Provide instructional support assistance to students and student groups to reinforce and follow up learning activities.
• Observe and record behavior patterns and follow appropriate techniques to reinforce acceptable behavior.
• Assist certified educators with the presentation of learning materials and instructional exercises.
• Assist in procedures related to physical and medical needs of students.
• Assist students, as needed, in learning self-care techniques, including toilet training, bathing, and personal cleanliness; assist in diapering, toilet training, feeding, and other self-help skills if needed.
• Participate in the development, maintenance, and carrying out of systems for classroom management.
• Guide students in working and interacting harmoniously with other students.
• Supervise students in all areas of the school.
• Operate various types of office equipment such as computers and copy machines.
• Monitor students inside and outside of the building during lunch hour.

Requirements

• Regular, reliable, predictable attendance and job performance is required.
• Basic computer knowledge and familiarity with Google Docs; must check email frequently.
• Willingness to learn and use all computer systems and software as needed.
